Carmen my grandmother, the most valuable person in my life has been supportive through thick and thin. She has always managed to tell me to do well in school and to never give up. Till this day on, she's always on my case to go to school and to finish because that's all she asks for me to succeed.
I attended 24th St. Elementary and graduated in 05'. For middle school I attended a private school located on Washington and Bronson named St. Paul. Going to a private school was a very different experience and I honestly thought that I wasn't going to graduate but luckily I did. Once I graduated from there in 07' my mom Ana signed me up in a charter school, she was going to put me in an all girl school but she didn't want to pay tuition anymore, so she put me in a charter school instead. I stayed there till the middle of 10th grade and transferred here to West Adams.
My favorite subject is math and drawing because I'm good with numbers and I love drawing. The most influential teacher that has came across my life are actually all of them but the most important teacher I had was at College Ready Academy #5, he was my math teacher and my friend, at the time I had therapy appointments, so I would always show up to school the next day or late. Mr. Thornhill had noticed and he once told me to stay in class because he needed to have a talk with me. Since that day Mr. Thornhill was highly important to me because he showed that he cared and always advised me. I stopped going to therapy and talked to my math teacher instead because I was comfortable with him.
When I attended St. Paul my 7th grade teacher Mr. Kim assigned us a very cool project that I fell in love with and got a high grade in. We were supposed to build a board game which included details about the novel we had read. I had 2 friends over my house and we built the board game out of card board and different colored clay.
In the future, I see myself in college getting my degree in psychology or forensics. I really hope I'm motivated enough to get my career. I'm always talking about being a forensic scientist or a psychologist to my people, but I really don't know if that's what I really want to major in. I believe I'm scared to take that big step but I know I shouldn't have a negative thought about it because being negative just holds you back in doing what’s best for yourself.
As a student I tend to slack off sometimes and not acknowledge things properly but when I'm in a good educational environment I try to do my best just to not fall back in the hole like I was in my sophomore year. I know I'm a very smart young lady but I always tend to have bad moments because of problems I go through at home. I know I can succeed and I look forward to graduating with my 2012 class.
English is my primary language and I speak English all the time. When I was in 5th grade I remember I wasn't a very good reader at all. I would always read slow or wouldn't be able to pronounce words. Till I got to St. Paul my reading skills improved and in 7-8th grade I was always chosen to read. I was really proud of myself because all my teachers would compliment my reading skills. My grades in St. Paul were poorly in the beginning like in 6th grade but I improved and my grade point average was a 3.0. In CRAHS#5 I was on track and my grade point average was 3.5.
My specific goals for this class are to succeed and to pass. I will conduct myself to be a better student and improve because I really want to graduate. I really hope this class goes well for me and make the best of it. I'm glad to have my recent English teacher because she is really motivating and fun. I expect my teacher to always give me advice in to doing well and to keep me updated in how I'm doing in her class.
